After five years of service and nearly a billion free downloads, one of the world’s most downloaded games, mobile runner Minion Rush, keeps up its tremendous run with the Despicable Me franchise by releasing a rewarding update made for fans and new comers alike.

Five Years of Tremendous Success

Leading mobile game studio and publisher Gameloft, in partnership with Illumination Entertainment and Universal Games are celebrating the fifth anniversary of Minion Rush, and a service life marked by tremendous success on the F2P mobile scene. To commemorate the event, they are greeting old and new players with gameplay improvements and enhancements based on community feedback.

Game Content Renewal

While the core gameplay is preserved, they’ve reworked almost everything else to make the experience even more fun and engaging, making the game’s free-to-play model even more generous than it was.

Renewed Map System: Gru’s Lair offers players access to different gaming rooms! Each room represents a unique area with different sets of missions to accomplish, or thematic events.
Collectible Costume Cards: The popular Minion Rush costumes are now more exciting and accessible than before, with over 70 costumes to be unlocked and leveled up with a specific power-up that can be upgraded to improve its abilities.
New Ranking System: Players are now turned into Minion Agents, which means costumes become spy disguises! Depending on the amount of unlocked and upgraded costumes, the players’ Agents rank will change and will determine the type of rooms accessible via Gru’s Lair.
Rewarding In-game Coins: Collecting Coins has never been so fun and rewarding as players will be able to use this new currency to unlock costumes.

Minion Rush is free to download on the App Store, Google Play and Amazon App Store, and contains in-app purchases and ads. A Windows version is also available but not as stable.
