Velan Studios are leaving EA and will self-publish Knockout City as free-to-play, beginning this spring when Season 6 and Year 2 kick in. The price tag will be removed entirely, bringing the game to millions of new players around the world on Windows, Switch, PS4 and Xbox One.
Free-to-play release
As Knockout City switches to free-to-play, most likely in May 2022 as part of the launch of Year 2 and season 5, Velan Studios are leaving EA and transitioning to self-publishing.
“We couldn’t have introduced Knockout City to the world without the incredible support of EA Originals, but now as we switch to free-to-play, the natural next step is for us to take over publishing responsibilities and work even more closely with our community. We have exciting plans for Knockout City, and bringing publishing in-house will allow us to fully realize our vision for the long-term future of this game. There’s so much to look forward to, because this is just the beginning.”
