Free-to-play tactical RPG Avatar: Generations by Square Enix will soft launch in select territories this month on Android/iOS before going global soon after. Information regarding the game remains scarce but here’s what we know.

Soft Launch Details

During the month of August, 2022, the game will provide soft launch access in Canada, Denmark, South Africa and Sweden for Android, before expanding globally in the following months including for iOS.

Game Background

Based on Nickelodeon’s beloved animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, the game is being developed by Navigator Games and published by Square Enix in partnership with Paramount Consumer Products.

“We are thrilled to unveil ‘Avatar: Generations’ as the second official title in production from Square Enix London Mobile and I can’t wait for players to dive in later this year,” said Patrick Naud, Head of Mobile, Square Enix Montréal. “Avatar: Generations represents Square Enix London Mobile’s continued investment in publishing high-quality free-to-play mobile titles based on iconic IPs.”

The first chapter introduces Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Suki and Zuko accompanied by the much-loved companions Appa and Momo as they embark on a globetrotting quest to fulfill Aang’s destiny.

Gameplay Details

The game will feature turn-based battles with “unique adventure sequences”, as well as party customization and upgrade systems. Micro-transactions will most likely be limited to unlocking extra characters. Players will also be able to experience “fan-favorite locations, stories, and events in an open world”.
