GAME : Top Games We Are Excited for in 2024

2023 was a spectacular year for gaming. Many titles were released over a broad range of genres but RPGs definitely took the cake with releases such as Baldur’s Gate 3 and God of War Ragnarok blessing our screens. It seems that the overall theme this time was to push character development to new heights- making players immerse themselves in a world that they perceive as their own.

Now, with 2024 fresh out of its cocoon, there is a good bunch of games to get hyped over moving forward. Some are long-awaited remasters, such as The Last of Us remake, some are hybrid remasters, such as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and some are totally new and hot for the taking, such as Star Wars Outlaws.

We’re excited to share with you the ones we’re most anxiously waiting for but before we go on ahead with our listicle, note that many of the games listed below will need a robust internet connection to support their online features. For this, we recommend hooking yourself up with the Spectrum Internet. Not only is Spectrum ahead of its game when it comes to stellar internet services, but it also offers delicious deals for customers to enjoy the New Year.

Now, without further ado, let’s get going!

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Fans got bummed out last year with the Sands of Time remake getting an infinite delay on Ubisoft’s calendar. However, there’s still something to look forward to as the 2D side scroller, The Lost Crown is slated to be released in 2024. Considering that it’s been a while since a new Prince of Persia game has graced our screens, there is inevitably a lot of expectation attached to this title.

Judging by the look of the trailer, there seems to be lots of action riding heavy on this game with platforming being given its due importance. This comes as no surprise to long-time PoP fans as parkour is an integral feature of the franchise.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered

We knew the remaster for Part 2 was inevitable; it was only a matter of when it’d be released. And now, we have confirmation that this is going to be the year when we take the reins of an older Ellie once again as she pursues justice, gore, and bloodshed all while bracing an indomitable will to bring to justice Joel’s killers.

TLoU (remastered) has gone through a polishing of sorts with a new skill tree available to unlock for players. There’s also going to be a bunch of new weapons and juicy techniques to incapacitate enemies. All topped with amazing graphics courtesy of Naughty Dog, ready to punch your PS5’s hardware to the max.

Tekken 8

Tekken is one of those games that never loses its popularity. It keeps sharpening its saw each year with updated graphics, new and improved mechanics, and a bunch of new characters but the underlying theme stays the same- kick the other player’s romp. Bandai Namco has spared no expense in establishing Tekken as arguably the best fighting game out there. Just have a look at all the money and effort that goes into hosting multiple Tekken tournaments around the globe on an annual basis and you’ll know what we mean.

Now, with Tekken 8 seething with potential, get ready to dive back into a game that you could either play as an arcade title or check out the story that continues the age-old internal rivalry of the Mishima family and their hatred for each other. It’s a bit funny to see the characters fight again and again over the same thing but hey, it’s a fighting game. Go figure.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Rocksteady Studios has decided to run in the opposite direction and bubble forth a game where players immerse themselves in a world where Brainiac has succeeded in turning the Justice League into a bunch of mind-controlled, super-powered zombies. The only solution to taking care of our heroes-turned-kamikazes is to send in a force of supervillains who work on juicy incentives.

Suicide Squad is set to be an online game with mechanics similar to Destiny 2 or Anthem. It’s a bit weird to merge a superhero game with MMORPG-style workings but if this game is being designed by the same studio that was responsible for the Batman Arkham franchise, we’ll let them have a go at it.

Conclusion

That’s a wrap on all the games we have ourselves twiddling our thumbs over. Hold on to your joysticks you guys, this year is set to be another notch on our gamer belts. Whether you’re more into the multiplayer aspect or want to run solo, there’s bound to be something to tantalize your taste buds coming in hot this year. Save up for now and get ready to whip out your wallet when sales start!
