Blizzard Entertainment’s free-to-play digital card game has become one of the most popular online games in the entire world, reaching the 100-million-player mark in just over 4 years, and to celebrate this new milestone, players will be offered gifts over the course of a special event running November 7–11.
New Milestone Set Across the World
The 100-million-player mark is indeed a huge achievement worth celebrating for Blizzard, and this hard-earned digital milestone even spans different dimensions, having also materialized in the real world, not in the form of a physical edition, but through a monthly average of 2,655 Hearthstone Fireside Gatherings taking place in cities around the world, from Boston to Beijing, which are powered by Blizzard and coordinated by “Innkeepers” to “accentuate Hearthstone’s tavern vibe and encourage players to take the fun of the game out into the real world”, the success of which is also due to the game’s cross-platform support that allows cross-play between PCs and mobile devices.
“Reaching 100 million players is a huge milestone for Hearthstone, but what matters to us even more is the fact that so many people around the world have embraced the spirit of the game,” said J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment. “Whether at events like BlizzCon® and Fireside Gatherings or just in tuning in to watch their favorite streamers, it’s been so inspiring to see millions of players and fans coming together, online and in real life, to participate in the Hearthstone community.”
Quest and Login Gifts
As a way of commemorating the 100-million-player milestone and thanking players across the world, Blizzard is holding a special in-game event from November 7 through 11, during which time players who log into the game will receive six free The Boomsday Project card packs.
In addition, players can earn up to 500 gold by completing the Celebrate the Players quest five times over the course of the event or in a single day. Gold can be used to acquire card packs and participate in the Arena mode.
You’ll first need to complete the introductory quests “First Blood” and “The Duelist” to unlock daily quests if you are a new player, or the “Ready for Action” quest if you’re a returning player.
The celebration quest will overwrite one of your quests if there is no room for it so make sure there is room for it in your quest log before November 7 if you don’t want to lose a quest you intended to complete.
